The following table shows the timeline for major events of Central Michigan University’s academic program prioritization.

May 24, 2010 Board of Trustees approves President’s 2010-2011 Goals.
August 2010 Discussion of prioritization at Council of Deans’ Retreat.
September 2010 Preliminary drafts of plan developed by provost & staff.
September 21, 2010 Preliminary draft of plan shared with College deans. Draft Plan revised.
October 12, 2010 Draft Plan shared with Council of Deans, discussed and revised.
October 29, 2010 Draft Plan shared with chairs and program directors including list of programs to be prioritized for each department, unit or interdisciplinary program. Revised following discussion.
October and November 2010 Data prepared by OIR, ORSP, College of Graduate Studies, Academic Affairs.
Departments complete and update OFIS data.
November 22, 2010 Public forums on plan and criteria. Discussion and revision.

December 6, 2010 Final plan communicated to departments, units, and interdisciplinary programs. Website established.
December 13, 2010 Departments, units, and interdisciplinary programs verify programs to be prioritized
December 2010 Departments, units, and interdisciplinary programs request additional data if desired
December 2010-March 2011 Departments, units, and interdisciplinary programs complete self-study and prepare prioritization document
April 1, 2011 Departments, units, and interdisciplinary programs submit documents to College Dean
End of April 2011 College Advisory Committees meet and prepare recommendations for program prioritization rankings within the College
Late May 2011 Deans submit college rankings and evaluations of programs within their College to Provost
June-July 2011 Provost, working with deans, reviews all materials and develops preliminary rankings of all academic programs
July-August 2011 Provost shares preliminary rankings with COD
August 2011 Provost revises preliminary rankings of all academic programs
September 2011 Revised preliminary rankings shared with campus: public forums, Council of Chairs, Academic Senate, etc.
Early October 2011 Provost prepares final rankings and submits recommendations to President.
2011-2012 and beyond Appropriate actions are implemented
