Programs for Prioritization

The choice of the programs to be prioritized is derived from the definitions of programs that have been used for program review and student learning outcome assessment. A complete list of all programs is available here. The following academic programs will be prioritized:

  • Graduate programs
    • All graduate programs
    • Each separate concentration within a graduate program is a separate program
    • Master’s degrees are considered separate from doctoral degrees unless case is made that they should be considered together
    • Separate program prioritization for programs offered online and off campus

If a graduate program is offered both on and off campus/online, the department/council will consider each a separate program.

  • Majors
    • All majors
    • Each separate concentration within a major is a separate program
    • Majors with teacher education are separate from nonteaching majors
    • Separate program prioritization for programs offered online and off campus

If an undergraduate program is offered both on and off campus/online, the department/council will consider each a separate program.

  • Minors
    • stand-alone minors
      • In addition, each department will provide data documenting the contribution of their courses to the University Program. University program data may be found on the IR website with the other data.
    • University program within a department
      • Data relevant to the Honors Program will be summarized by the Honors Council and presented directly to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
    • Honors Program

After careful consideration, the following programs will not be included in this academic program prioritization process:

  • Course which serves other department majors (service courses)
  • Certificate programs (unless specifically noted)
  • Minors which are part of a major
  • Competency courses
  • 2-plus-2 programs
  • Programs on hiatus

If colleges/departments/interdisciplinary programs have questions about the inclusion or omission of a program, please contact Claudia Douglass, Interim Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, WA 312, 774-3632, dougl1cb@cmich.edu
